Raising Funds for New Oven

We are raising funds to buy a new oven for the kitchen.

Every year we hold a Christmas lunch for people in our community who are struggling for whatever reason (financial, health issues etc) or who face spending Christmas day alone.  We try to create a welcoming, festive atmosphere and everyone who attends is very grateful to the volunteers for providing this service.  Referrals mainly come from social care services however anyone can refer and guests can also refer themselves.  Everyone is welcome.

The oven is very old and last year on Christmas Eve it broke down and we faced having to either cancel the Christmas lunch or move to another location.  It was very stressful for those involved.  Thankfully we managed to get an emergency temporary repair carried out however we would like the oven replaced before this year's Community Christmas lunch.

The oven is also used at many other charity fundraising events, including Christian Aid Week, held in the church as well as by church and community groups who use our halls.

We are looking for support from the community to help raise funds.  We are doing some fundraising within the church - a soup and sweet lunch was held on 30 September - and after the Sunday service on 1 October, there was an opportunity for donations at our time for fellowship.

We are also looking for the community's support with raising funds for the new oven.  Every year I'm overwhelmed with the support we receive for the Carluke Community Christmas lunch event.  If anyone would like to support us it would be greatly appreciated and the money will be well used.

Any funds left over after purchasing the oven and having it fitted will be used towards this year's Christmas lunch.

Update

The total amount needed to purchase and install the oven was raised in FOUR days from Just Giving donations and proceeds from the Soup and Sweet lunch and Time for Fellowship!  Thanks to all who donated - your suppport is much appreciated.

Many thanks, Gillian Forrest
