Between 15 March and 6 September 2020, no service was held in St John's. During this time, a mini-service of about 20 minutes duration was available on-line and by CD.
The church was opened again for a restricted form of public worship on 6 September, following the Scottish Government guidelines. Under these guidelines, a very limited number of people was able to attend for worship in person. To make up for this, the elements of the service were pre-recorded and made available on-line so members who were unable to get to church could attend in spirit and feel part of the church family. A CD version was distributed to those who had no internet access.
On 26 December 2020, in light of the rapidly increasing number of infections of Covid-19, the Scottish Government instigated an almost full lockdown, almost as severe as that in March 2020. One of the restrictions put in place was the closing of Places of Worship again from Friday 8 January 2021 for at least four weeks. As a result, from Sunday 10 January 2021, Morning services reverted to recordings only on the internet and CD. The internet recordings are available in video where shown.
If you are listening to the latest service on the date shown at 11:00 am (UK time), what you hear will be very close to what those in church are hearing.
