At morning worship on Sunday, 3 November, Charlie McLaren, one of the young leaders of JAFFA Club was awarded a Saltire Summit Award in recognition of the work she has done with children in JAFFA over the past four plus years.
Charlie has proved to be very kind and caring. She spent much time looking after children who were not fully engaged in JAFFA activities. Committed to the work, she has had almost 100% attendance in the time she has been a leader and has proved capable of taking the lead in the programme by herself.
Ann Walker, JAFFA organiser, described Charlie as an excellent role model, not just for the children in JAFFA but also for the leaders. Ann said that she is a wonderful ambassador for young people.
The Saltire Summit award is endorsed by the Scottish Government and is a prestigious award with a limited allocation each year. It is given to those young volunteers between the ages of 12 and 25, who have completed at least 200 hours and who have exceeded expectations. Candidates must be nominated by their respective organisations. Charlie more than meets these criteria!
