|When:||Saturday, 9 February 2019|
|Where:||Falkirk Wheel & Forth & Clyde Canal|
|How Long:||A flat linear walk of approx 6.5 miles|
|Leaving St John's:||10:00 am (NOTE CHANGE TO TIME)|
Leaving the village of Allandale (near Cumbernauld), we join the tow path of the Forth & Clyde Canal and walk to the Falkirk Wheel situated on the outskirts of Falkirk.
This amazing piece of engineering allows vessels to be moved to/from the Union Canal to Forth & Clyde Canal (approx. 80ft) by means of a rotating boat lift (the only one of its kind operating in the world). With time to look around the visitor centre and hopefully see the wheel in operation, we return to the start point by the same route.
