From the beach car park in Irvine a short walk along the harbour side takes us to Irvine town centre and, using public transport, we'll travel to Troon for the start of our walk.

A short walk through Troon town centre we join the Ayrshire Coastal path at the P&O Ferry Terminal.  From here it's a pleasant walk round Troon north shore into Barassie and then onto Irvine, with a short detour to visit the giant stone craved dragon (Great Protector and Guardian of Irvine).

This is flat linear walk of 7 miles using a variety of terrain - town walking, cycle paths, sand dunes and beach.  Waterproof footwear is recommended and appropriate outer clothing is required should the weather be inclement as the majority of walk is exposed.
