Harvest Thanksgiving 2020

Shoebox Appeal 2020

Shoebox Appeal 2020

In recent years, it has been our custom to celebrate Harvest Thanksgiving by supporting the Blythswood Shoebox Appeal.

It has not been possible, this year, to offer this support at St John's but our friends in Kirkton Church have made arrangements to receive shoeboxes.  If you do not have a suitable box, there will also be some available and to purchase hats, gloves etc.  This year you are also able to drop off items in drawstring bags (like a gym bag) if you are struggling to get a shoe box.  The bags should ideally be a maximum of 500mm x 300mm and not be plastic. Please note that underwear has been added as an essential item for this year's boxes.

You will be able to pick up/drop off a shoebox at Kirkton Church the following times:

  • Wednesday 7th October 2pm - 4pm
  • Thursday 8th October 6pm - 8pm
  • Tuesday 20th October 6pm - 8pm
  • Thursday 22nd October 2pm - 4pm
  • Saturday 24th October 2pm - 4pm and 6pm - 8pm

Blythswood Care produce a leaflet which provides information about what can and cannot be included in your shoebox.  It also has a checklist so you can indicate which items you have included and the gender and age of the intended recipient of your gift.  you can download a copy here.

If you would prefer to make a financial donation, these can be handed in at Kirkton Church at the above times or sent directly to Blythswood Care at Highland Deephaven, Evanton, ROSS-SHIRE, IV16 9XJ.  Cheques should be made payable to Blythswood Care and placed in a sealed envelope with a note to say that the donation is for the Shoebox Appeal.   You can also donate on-line on the Blythswood Care Website
